PAS Ohio Chapter Secretary

I’m proud to announce that I have been elected as the Secretary of the Ohio Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. I’ll be supporting newly elected President Jerry Noble and Vice President Eric Paton. This is a great honor, and I hope that I can contribute to the already thriving community of dedicated drummers and percussionists that call Ohio home. The Ohio Chapter website is going through an overhaul, and we plan to work hard to build the best Ohio Day of Percussion yet, this year, as well as expand Ohio’s percussive community.

Miss Molly at Sonic Lounge Studios

Currently Listening to: Jon Cleary – Stepping In On Your Thing
Yesterday was a long but awesome day with my good friends from Miss Molly. The session down at Sonic Lounge Studios in Grove City went really well, and I’m very anxious to hear the final product. I only got to hear the tunes that I ended up tracking on, but judging by those, the upcoming Miss Molly album is going to be something to look out for when it’s released.
I ended up tracking on three songs. The first two tracks were pretty standard overdubs. I laid down a few conga tracks for a tune called “Streets of San Diego” then some little percussive accents and stereo effects on the sultry “Taste for Love.” The real treat came when I went in the live room with Larry Cook on bass and local monster, Derek DiCenzo on guitar to track “Will I Ever Learn.” We had a blast playing together in that setting. To get a taste of the vibe of that tune, check out the video from the session. Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks again to Joe Viers @ Sonic Lounge, Derek, and the Miss Molly Crew for including me in what I’m sure is going to be a fantastic album!

Summer Sessions

Currently Listening to: Miss Molly – Winter Song

Just a little update on what’s been going on musically with me. Aside from the typical summer gig explosion for all the bands I’m playing in, I’ve got a couple of pretty cool recording sessions coming up.

First, I’m going to be doing some work with my good buddy Nathan Foli on the newest Miss Molly album. Coming up on Friday the 13th (I know… creepy, right?), I’ll be heading to Sonic Lounge Studios in Grove City to lay down some percussion overdubs, and also do a live track with them, which I’m very excited about. If you’re not hip to this band, you should definitely check them out online, and at a live show. They’re a great bunch of musicians. Hopefully, I’ll have some pics and/or video of the session soon.

Later on this summer, in early August, I’ll be gearing up for a full album project with the amazingly talented Kevin Dean. I’ll be working with the great people out at the Earthwork Recording Studio, including my very good friend Tom Atha (who’s great guitar playing and song crafting can be heard in the audio samples of my site). Jason Monro (bass) of Sharp Circle will be joining me on this project as we concentrate our efforts to bring Kevin’s soulful, heartfelt songs to life. This album (tentatively entitled “Long Live the Ashes”) has been in pre-production for over a year, and is sure to be worth the wait. I’m thrilled to get to be a part of it. More on this as it gets closer.
